Why Mental Health is so important (now more than ever) 🌻

Everyone goes through something

Most people struggle mentally at some point in their lives and this situation of self-isolation can be one of those moments. At this moment we understand why mental health is so important, now more than ever. The majority of people aren’t even aware of their own pain, as they don’t really want to listen to that mental pain. In today’s society, we are used to saying that’s “everything is fine” and not giving permission to show how weak you are in a specific moment of your life.

I know that this time can be challenging, so I create a little list of things that you can to in order to keep going and make every day more beautiful and positive. So focus on things that you can do at home yo lift your mood in an instant.

Life is what you make it. Choose to make it beautiful, no matter the external circumstances. Happiness is a mindset. Choose happiness. 🌞

Every morning when we wake up, we have two options:

We can choose to continue sleeping with our dreams or we can wake up and chase them passionately and wholeheartedly. The choice is yours.”

Focus on things that are not canceled

First of all, it is important in this situation to realize that not everything is canceled. In fact, there are many things that you can continue practice and do and that are not canceled.

Kindness is not canceled.
Gratitude is not canceled.
Face time calls are not canceled.
Smiles are not canceled.
Yoga is not canceled.
Music is not canceled.
Nights of sleep are not canceled
Love is not canceled.

Make the most out of every day.
Challenge yourself to learn something new.
Adapt your routines and rituals.
Gain clarity on what you want to invest the time you have at hand into.
Figure out what’s important to you. Get to know yourself on a deeper level.
Practice self-care daily.

Nourish Yourself

Avoid too many highly processed foods that make you feel tired and take a long time to digest. Skip as many sugars or fatty snacks as possible and only mindfully enjoy those that truly fill up your soul.

Try instead to eat light and healthy home-cooked meals that make you feel alive and energized. Now you have more time than ever so you can crop all the veggies!

Adopt new habits

Avoid snoozing and checking your phone as first thing in the morning. Get up early and start your day on a mindful note with meditation and movement, like yoga or a daily workout, there are tons of free training online on You Tube (One of my videos for a workout are of @Pamela Reif)

Manage your time

Avoid procrastinating, I know it’s difficult not to feel overwhelmed with emotions, but by doing nothing and not move forward you will feel more and more overwhelmed each day.

START DOING things that you have been putting off for weeks, if not months. Create a list of all the tasks and all those activities you have been wanting to tackle for a while.

EXAMPLES CAN BE:
– Home Office / Admin work
– Catch up on the emails
– Self-study and learning something new (online courses)
– Cleaning your apartment
– Creating something (vision board, a green little area in the apartment, content, art, mood, pictures)

Books to read for a mindful life

Dr. Brené Brown has interviewed hundreds of people as part of an ongoing study of vulnerability. “The research shows that we try to ward disappointment with a shield of cynicism, disarm shame by numbing ourselves against joy, and circumvent grief by shutting off our willingness to love,” explains Dr. Brown. When we become aware of these patterns, she teaches, we begin to become conscious of how much we sacrifice in the name of self-defense -and how much richer our lives become when we open ourselves to vulnerability.

Each story and lesson in the book guides readers to release the blocks to what they most long for: happiness, security and clear direction. The lessons help readers relinquish the need to control so they can relax into a sense of certainty and freedom. Readers will learn to stop chasing life and truly live.
